Home Inspection Day: What to Expect

The inspection is your chance to learn how the house works—not just how it looks on listing photos.

What inspectors check

Most inspections cover structure, roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and major systems. They report on condition and safety, not cosmetic issues like paint color.

Should you attend?

Many buyers meet the inspector toward the end of the appointment to walk through findings. Your agent can help you decide which items are worth negotiating and which are normal for a home’s age.

After the report

Depending on your contract, you may request repairs, a credit, or to walk away if something major appears. Timelines are strict, so review the report quickly with your agent.
